JOB TITLE: Stores Packing Team Leader
DEPARTMENT: Warehouse and Logistics
REPORTS TO: Warehouse and Logistics Manager
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Role Overview
The Stores Packing Team Leader is responsible for overseeing all packing and dispatch preparation activities within the stores function. The role ensures goods are accurately packed, labelled, and prepared for shipment while coordinating closely with dispatch, warehouse staff, and FLT (Forklift Truck) drivers to maintain efficient and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities
Packing & Dispatch Preparation
Supervise day-to-day packing operations, ensuring all goods are packed securely and in accordance with company standards.
Ensure accurate labelling of goods for shipping, including customer details, handling instructions, and compliance requirements.
Verify that all packing documentation is complete and correct prior to dispatch.
Coordination & Communication
Liaise closely with the Dispatch team to align packing priorities with delivery schedules.
Coordinate with FLT drivers to ensure timely movement of goods between storage, packing, and loading areas.
Act as the main point of contact for packing-related queries and issue resolution.
Loading & Logistics Support
Oversee the safe and efficient loading of vehicles, ensuring loads are secure and comply with transport regulations.
Ensure dispatch deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Identify and resolve issues relating to packing, stock discrepancies, or dispatch delays.
Implement improvements to packing processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
Escalate recurring issues and contribute to operational improvement initiatives.
Stock Control & Accuracy
Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
Investigate and report any stock variances or discrepancies.
Support overall stock management processes within the stores function.
Key Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, or packing leadership role.
Strong understanding of dispatch, logistics, and stock control processes.
Experience coordinating FLT drivers or working in FLT-supported operations.
Good organisational and communication skills.
Ability to problem-solve and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Desirable
FLT licence, Reach Truck, PPT (advantageous).
Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems.
